International Creative Expert to Present
at “ForumCornucopia: Growing in a Creative Climate”
The Center for Creative Solutions, Inc. today announced that Dr. Roger L. Firestien, Ph.D. will be the featured speaker at ForumCornucopia Creativity Conference on September 22, 2011. He is an international expert on creativity.
For over 30 years, Dr. Firestien has worked with corporations, organizations and government entities around the world. The list of his clients reads like a “Who’s Who” and includes such organizations as Du Pont, United States Army, Citicorp, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Clorox, American Movie Classics, United Way, General Motors and NASA.
Through the highly effective Creative Problem Solving process, he has helped people tap into their abilities to create and innovate. “The creativity tools he will teach at the forum are skills you can use immediately to make a difference in your life and work,” said Cynthia A. Hedge, CEO of the Center for Creative Solutions.
Dr. Firestien is president of Innovation Resources, Inc. He is the author of over 70 articles and books on creativity. His books include Leading on the Creative Edge: Gaining Competitive Advantage through the Power of Creative Problem Solving and Why Didn’t I Think of That?
In addition, Dr. Firestien teaches creativity and facilitation at the International Center for Studies in Creativity and Change Leadership in New York, part of the New York University System (SUNY). His breaking research proved that groups trained in Creative Problem Solving:
• Produced significantly more ideas of higher quality;
• Had a much higher probability of a breakthrough occurring;
• Were more involved in group problem solving;
• Criticized ideas less;
• Supported others’ ideas more; and
• Laughed and smiled more.
“The organizations that will thrive over time are not the ones with the deepest pockets, but the ones that unleash and apply the creativity of their workforce. Leaders who know how to nurture their own creativity while igniting creativity in others are able to use the strategic business weapons most crucial to gaining and maintaining a competitive edge,” noted Firestien.
The day-long conference will feature additional regional and local experts and practitioners in creative development. The curriculum is designed for businesses, organizations of all types and individuals wanting to find innovative ways to solve complex problems, according to Mike Brennen, chairperson of conference.
The day will consist of a plenary session in the morning, a lunch panel discussion of regional innovation practitioners, and two concurrent sessions in the afternoon. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. The program, to be located at the Northern Indiana Education Foundation Building, 402 Franklin Square, (corner of Franklin and 4th Streets) Michigan City, Indiana, will end at 2:00 p.m.
The registration fee for the day of presentations, breakfast and lunch is $50. Because seating is limited, contact the Center for Creative Solutions at creativity52@comcast.net or 219-861-0955 for registrations as soon as possible.
